How to opt out of PublicRecordsNow
PublicRecordsNow (publicrecordsnow.com) publishes personal records and accepts removal requests through an online form. You can do this yourself, for free. Here is what it involves.
Before you start
- You will need your name and the address shown on the listing.
- They email you a confirmation link. The request does nothing until you click it, so check spam if it doesn't arrive.
- PublicRecordsNow states removals take 2-4 days.
The opt-out page
https://www.publicrecordsnow.com/optoutCalifornia's DROP does not reach this one
California's Delete Act lets residents file one deletion request that every registered data broker must honour. PublicRecordsNow does not appear on the state's public register — not under this domain, any listed trading name, or any company name we could find. So a DROP filing does not cover it, and this request has to be made directly.
It will come back
Removal is not permanent. Brokers re-acquire records from the same public and commercial sources they used the first time, so a listing taken down today can reappear. We re-send requests to PublicRecordsNow every 60 days for our customers; doing it yourself means putting a recurring reminder somewhere you will actually see it.
Sources
That is one broker. Our registry holds 151 that accept opt-out requests, and each one comes back on its own schedule. We do this every 60 days and keep the receipts.
